The Body Shop Haul

On one of my trips to the mall I spotted a 'buy 3 get 3' sale sign over at The Body Shop and could you blame me from going in? I didn't think so. I actually hadn't tried much of The Body Shops makeup excluding their lippies. I surprisingly walked out without much skincare (mainly because my skincare collection is already LARGE -and in charge!-). This is what I got..

The Body Shop Colour Crush Eyeshadow: 'Melt My Heart', 'Coconuts About You', 'Cocoa Deluxe', 'Mon Cheri', 'Be My Clementine', 'Sweet Pea'.

The three shadows I chose were (in order of appearance), 'Melt My Heart', 'Coconuts About You', 'Cocoa Deluxe', 'Mon Cheri', 'Be My Clementine' (they're discontinuing this shade), 'Sweet Pea'.

They're surprisingly soft and buttery. Swatching with my fingers gives good pigmentation however with a brush it doesn't pick up as much. A good trick is pushing the brush upward on a shadow to pick up extra pigment. If they were more pigmented these would get an A from me! They blend really well and have a good range of colours to choose from. The colours look absolutely stunning in the pans and although they swatch a little softer, they're still very pretty. Little-to-no fallout. I've used these on clients and they photograph really well.

Be My Clementine and Coconuts About You are my favourites, Mon Cheri would have topped the list if it were more pigmented.

I even made a makeup tutorial using Mon Cheri. It lasted the whole filming (hot lights) and you can see just how pretty it is on camera.

ABOUT DEPOTTING: I use metal pans for everything to keep my kit nice and clean and although not always possible. I have successfully depotted these using the hair straightener method (heat the plastic then pop them out with a makeup spatula). That being said, I contacted The Body Shop about this and they don't recommend depotting. I did request they make this easier if they ever change the packaging. ^^

PRICE: They sell for $10CAD/pot but they're usually have some sale going on. You can purchase them online from The Body Shop's website.

The Body Shop Colour Crush Lipstick 240

I have a few other shades of their lipstick but this one looks like a good dupe of my favourite Make Up For Ever lipstick (n28). It's a beautifully bold fuschia-purple colour. I've even noticed this colour on a lot of TV actresses lately too. It's great with natural makeup and when I only have a few minutes in the morning to get ready I always focus on my lips and more often than not I grab this kind of shade.

The Body Shop Colour Crush Lipstick in 240THEY ARE MOISTURIZING! They're very creamy and nicely pigmented. This means they're not as long lasting as a matte lipstick but with a lip liner (I like pairing it with Make Up For Ever's Aqua Lip 10C or 16C) it holds a good wear time.

I was a little skeptical of this mascara when I bought it. I knew I wanted to try a TBS mascara but didn't know which and asked the sales lady which was her favourite. She chose this one. I got it in very black and I don't know if I've ever worn such a black mascara before! It's truly a wonderful product and my only complain is the brush. It picks up a bit too much of the formula which can lead to clumping. Now here's the trick, I've seen a lot of reviews discard the product because of that and I wish they wouldn't because it really is great.

REMOVE THE EXCESS FORMULA BEFORE APPLYING THE MASCARA! All you have to do is scrape the brush against the tube (go all around the brush so very little is left on) and apply. I don't usually need to apply a second layer but if you feel you need to, repeat but always remove the excess.

It has potential to be a HG because not only do I not need a waterproof under this (holds a curl really well) I also don't experience any fall out with this!

PRICE: It sells for $15CAD on The Body Shop's website.

The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil

This cleanser is the bomb dot com. I've purchased three bottles of this baby so far. It's GREAT at removing makeup, gentle (looking at your sensitive skin peeps) and moisturizing. I used to make my own using the OCM but I would get lazy and it would also stop being effective if I made too large of a batch. The pump bottle is great, one pump is good enough for my entire face.

Note that I double cleanse at night so I use another cleanser after my oil cleanse.

PRICE: $16CAD on The Body Shop's website.

That's everything I got! The thing I love about The Body Shop is that they're vegan and cruelty free. Always a nice thing. :)
