Glossybox: March 2013

Sunday, March 31, 2013

Out of all the beauty box subscriptions out there, Glossybox is my favourite. I'm subscribed to Luxebox as well which I am attached to since I started them out pretty much right when they first started. The people there also are so friendly! Still, even though Glossybox always ships to me in a pink box it still manages to come out first. I've been subscribed to them for 6months~1 year... I honestly can't remember anymore. I think there's been only one or two boxes that I wasn't a huge fan of. Anyway, I thought I'd try doing these monthly boxes. :3

Glossy costs a little more than some others ($21CAD/month) but I personally think it's worth it.

What I got this month:

L'Oreal Paris Youth Code Dark Spot Corrector Serum - 30ml $29.99

What it claims:
Fact: Dark spots, age spots, sun damage and post acne marks can make skin appear up to 10 years older. Restore luminosity and fight discoloration with Youth Code™ Dark Spot Correcting & Illuminating Serum Corrector. This clinically proven formula illuminates skin tone and corrects dark spots for a more even, radiant and youthful complexion. 86% of women saw fewer dark spots in just 8 weeks.*

My thoughts: I used this before my HG moisturizer Garnier's 24 hr Moisture Rescue and it broke me out. I tried it without any moisturizer and it didn't. In conclusion, I can't use this combined with anything for whatever reason. There's a slight tingly feeling after putting it on, I'm assuming peeling off a layer of skin. I like it but I probably wont purchase it.

Model Co Cheek + Lip Tint in Rosy Red - 10ml/$24.99

What it claims:
CHEEK & LIPS is a smart must-have essential for any beauty bag, delivering playfully appealing colour that last for hours. The sheer formulation provides an instant splash of colour for a super long-lasting, no-mess finish.
What I say: When I first saw colour after testing the product I freaked out since it was so dark. It blends out really nicely though. I love the colour I got, you can't really see from my swatch.. I guess I blended it out too much. Woops! I probably won't purchase just because of the price, I like it but not enough to dish out $25 for a tube. However I do think that this will last you quite sometime and I like that it's advertising itself as multifunctional.

TRESemme Platinum Strength Deep Conditioning Treatment - 177ml/$5.99

What it claims:
Give your hair the strength and moisture it needs with Platinum Strength Renewing Deep Conditioning Treatment by TRESemmé. This treatment provides intensive moisturizers to repair damage and help protect against future damage. Formulated with Renewing Complex, the treatment revitalizes hair, leaving it smooth and strong. Use it with TRESemmé Platinum Strength Shampoo to keep your hair looking and feeling healthy.

What I say: It's a nice conditioner and if you have thin hair you may want to check it out since it really thickens your hair. My hair is pretty thick already so I didn't like the extra thickness. Also, I find that I prefer my Tashodi conditioner much more. This one seems to be a bit heavy. I wouldn't purchase.

Jergens Natural Glow 3 Days to Glow Moisturizer - 120ml/$12.99

What it claims:
With the exclusive Glow Perfecting® Complex, Jergens® Natural Glow 3 Days To Glow™ Moisturizer provides natural-looking flawless, natural-looking color FAST! Jumpstart your color within 1 day and get a full shade of color in just 3 days.

What I say: I'm currently trying this out so I'll have to update you!

BM Beauty Platinum Tiara Eye Shadow - 2g/$10.8

What it claims:
  • Starry Eyed Glamour Collection
  • Rich, sparkly grey.
  • 100% natural mineral formula
  • Oil free
  • Cruelty free and BUAV approved
  • Suitable for vegetarians and vegans
  • Highly pigmented mineral colour
What I say: It's a gorgeous, shimmery light grey colour. Buildable. Not sure if I would purchase but I do like it.
