Be Happy, Be Confident, Be Sexy, Be YOU!

Today's post is going to be a little different in a few respects, for one, ALL of the photos included in this post of are my BARE NAKED FACE. I woke up, washed up and took these.

I feel naked, I'm letting you all in my personal space! Haha I think many a years ago I may have started wearing make-up for the wrong reasons but now I wear make-up not to hide any of my flaws or hide behind a “mask” but because I actually see make-up as art, something fascinating that makes me feel good! Today, I wanted to post about being confident in yourself, no matter what shape, size, ethnicity, gender..etc. After all, there is nothing sexier than confidence.

I've been interested in guys and some say something like, “why would you like a nerd like me?” Besides the fact that it's an utter turn-off, CONFIDENCE IS SEXY! So you're not Gabriel Macht, I don't care, act like Harvey (well, maybe not EXACTLY like Harvey) and you've just gained 100 bonus points in my books. Yes, I still love Suits.

Now, I don't think I'm the sexiest, thinnest, prettiest, smartest, funnest blah blah blah, person around but I love who I am. I didn't always though. Years ago I battled clinical depression, panic-anxiety disorders, much worse things and I fought long and hard to overcome everything. I was able to do it naturally luckily and although the below may not work for you, if it helps just one person feel better about themselves I'll feel satisfied. :)

My personal view is that if you feel happy, you just naturally become confident in yourself (you are after all awesome, promise). So, here's what helped me overcome my difficulties and become a happier, more confident person.

Yes okay, I know you know this helps and I'm not saying become fit obsessed but if you're feeling down. Take a walk! Jog, ride your bike.. do something to get your body moving and let your skin soak up vitamin D thanks to Mr. Sun. Working out naturally releases what I like to call "happy chemicals". Ever heard of runners high? Same thing!

There are a lot of easy work outs you can do at your house, feel free to follow my tumblr as I post a lot of nutrition and fitness related posts.

You are what you eat. ~ Anthelme Brillat-Savarin &/ Ludwig Andreas Feuerbach

I know you've heard this before and although your immediate response is to think of your body, the food you eat really affects your mentally as well. Ever notice those days you pig out on McD's or takeout how you never feel good afterwards?

“EAT YOUR VEGGIES” ~ every mom

Your mother is a wise women with good reason. Not only will veggies keep you healthy, it will also keep you HAPPY. B-complex vitamins are stress fighters as well as Vitamin D (which, as long as you don't shut yourself inside, being out for 15 minutes you should get enough). There are other vitamins out there but I guarantee that if you do nothing else, start eating healthier you will feel better.

I have a bored on Pinterest devoted to yummy, healthy (vegetarian) food!

If you're stressed out, try writing/typing everything out. It helps a lot of people (me included, I've got a private journal! Hehe). One thing I like to do is think about the worst case scenario of whatever I'm dealing with and find a solution. Even if it's not the best solution, it's something!

Being around people who make you feel horrible is only going to make you feel horrible. If you have friends/boy/girl friends that mistreat you. Let them know it's not okay and you wont put up with it. Also, don't use negative words when you're thinking to yourself. Don't say don't! "I can do this!" Just say it to yourself! Even if you don't believe it, say it enough times and you'll convince yourself. Chances are you'll end up being able to accomplish something!

If you don't have people like this in your life, go find some! Or feel free to start a conversation with me. I'll be your friend!

If you like soccer, join a soccer team. Enjoy art? Find an art class/club. Like reading? Book club! BLOG! There are endless possibilities of how you can spend your time. Find something you like and make sure you set time aside just for that. Watching television doesn't count. Although relaxing, it's nice to be doing something else.

I blog, in case you couldn't tell. Blogging makes me incredibly happy.

If you're happy with life, you're happy with yourself which means you are one confident person.  YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL. NOW SPREAD THE LOVE!

Leave me comments with something you love about yourself and how you stay happy. If you have a blog, I encourage you to make a similar post!

Oh, and in case you were wondering, I tried sleeping with my hair in twisted buns to wake up to nice luscious, heat-free wavy hair.

It didn't work.
