L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Glove Review!Friday, September 09, 2011
Let me start by first saying that the tanning scares me. I wear sunscreen, don't stay out in the sun for long periods of time which is why I don't usually tan and am so pale. Tanning booths aren't for me, I personally believe they're unhealthy so I choose to stay away from them but, before the idea of an animal shoot was in the air, I wanted to draw on some leopard prints and I wanted to be darker! I was at Winners (ah~ my favourite store) and found a box of L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Glove for $7.99CAD (I can't remember the original price but I assume $10-13$CAD), decided what the hell! And got it.
My first thought was, "my hand is going to become orange if I put it straight in!" I had hoped they would give you a plastic glove or something (since it's just an opened sheet with lotion on it basically) but nope... and I had none in the house, so... I smothered my hand in vaseline. lol IT WORKED, OKAY. So I put it all over my body and didn't notice anything right away except that my skin felt nice. If anything it's a really good moisturizer!
Then I woke up and saw myself in the mirror. I was splotchy. SPLOTCHY! but my legs looks nice so I was fine with it. XD One arm was a little darker than the other and although I SWEAR I had put the lotion over my feet, I obviously didn't...
I didn't look too orange but I don't think it was so natural. Then again I did buy medium (that's all that was available, not sure if there is a fair out there!). When you compare the parts of my foot that didn't get to taste the lotion it looks a little orange but I like that glow effect. It was a big difference shade wise for me! It didn't really bother me that I was blotchy, I laughed it off with all my co-workers. It did fade after I showered (which I expected) but did last longer than expected. I thought it would fade after my first shower but it slowly faded. Maybe 4~5days?
Anyway, I was attempting to take photos of my full body with the "tan" but mother nature cut the shoot short and I only got a few pictures done. Here is one of them:
For a better comparison here is a candid shot of me and one of the pictures from the leopard shoot:
It's quite the difference when you put them side-by-side!! Looking at it now I kind of like it!
So would I buy again? If there is a fair shade, and if it's on sale, I would re-buy. I'm not big on self tanners but I do actually like how it came out besides from my horrible application job, of course. haha
